Cricket in Clogs

On May 25th the Dublin Cricket Academy hosted a group of Dutch students from the Heerenlanden College of Leerdam. The group lead my Frans Grondman, visited Ireland on a Special Sports Programme to sample the rich sports culture. Cricket along with Gaelic Football and Hurling was the sports on their agenda and this alone is a great testimony for the development of cricket in this country.

We were blessed with great sunshine and an enthusiastic group of twenty 15 year old boys and girls at YMCA Cricket Club. Over the course of the afternoon they were introduced to basic bowling, batting and fielding skills mixed in with various games and also a little bit of how to coach and set up basic games for schoolyard cricket.

The next foreign visit is by The University of North Carolina (USA) who are on a cultural visit to Ireland.
